1992 DieHard 500, Talladega

Ernie Irvan charged to victory in this race, winning in a Chevrolet over Sterling Marlin's Ford in a race that saw 3 cars finish on the lead lap, with Chevy claiming 3 top-ten spots and Ford claiming 4, while 3 Pontiacs also finished in the top ten. Harry Gant drove the sole Oldsmobile to a 17th place finish. In the days before the Talladega "Big One", this race saw 35 of the original 40 starters running at the finish, with engine problems claiming the other 5 cars, including Dale Earnhardt's Chevy, which came in dead last after completing only 52 laps!My gallery at bcpix.com , represented in this slideshow, contains 20 black and white images form the race, including some pack shots, pit stops and a couple of shots of the packed grandstands.
